The Journal Gazette

  • Michelle Davies | The Journal Gazette Jaliyah Wade, right, explains to fellow fifth-grader Dayne Zuver how to cast her vote in Tuesday's mock election at Haley Elementary School. The election, an undertaking by fifth-grade teacher Julie McCoy, is a way to educate the students on the importance of voting and how easy it is to do. The students' results were: Mike Braun 180, Joe Donnelly 147, Lucy Brenton 147, Jim Banks 147, Courtney Tritch 318. McCoy did point out that Tritch was principal for a day at the school, saying that may have helped her popularity.
