Local gas prices up 10 cents in last week

Fort Wayne gasoline prices have risen 10 cents a gallon during the last week, to $2.91, GasBuddy said today.

Local prices are 45.3 cents a gallon higher than a month ago and 18.4 cents a gallon higher than a year ago, GasBuddy said in a statement.

Nationally, it said, prices rose 7.4 cents a gallon during the last week, to $2.83, and are up 28.7 cents from a month ago and 12.2 cents a gallon from a year ago.

It's the ninth straight week the national average has risen, adding 57 cents a gallon during that time, said Dan McTeague, GasBuddy senior petroleum analyst, in the statement. He said markets outside California face the prospect of $3-a-gallon gas by the end of the month.

"A spate of refinery outages on the West Coast and in California has given way to a tightening of summer blended gasoline in advance of the summer driving season," McTeague said.
