Ancestral Meats of Muncie is recalling three of the company’s shelf-stable meat products sold under the “Ancestral Meats” brand name with the mark of state inspection, the Indiana State Board of Animal Health said today.

During a recent inspection, the company was unable to verify through recordkeeping that adequate testing occurred to ensure safety of the products as shelf-stable, the animal health board said in a statement.

The recall applies only to certain products produced in the last six months, the statement said. It said the products’ labels will bear an Indiana state inspection logo (an outline of Indiana with the words “IND. INSP & PASSED BOAH EST. 401”).

The recall applies to the following products with label dates between Jan. 29 and July 11:

  • Cured Pork Collar with Sorghum;
  • Spanish Chorizo;
  • Tuscan Style Salami

Ancestral Meats asked consumers to destroy the product or contact the company at Consumers should also check their freezers for unused portions, the statement said.

The products were sold this year at the Farmers Market at Minnetrista, 1200 N. Minnetrista Parkway, Muncie.
