More than 500 Rotarians from 13 states are expected to gather at the Grand Wayne Center this week for the Heart of America (Rotary) Zone Summit.
Rotary International President-Elect, Holgar Knaack is scheduled to address the luncheon Friday, a news release said. Knaack lives in Lauenburg-Mölln, Germany, and will serve as president of Rotary International in 2020-21.
Knaack has been a Rotarian since 1992 and has served in various leadership roles at Rotary International. He is CEO of Knaack KG, a real estate company, and was previously a partner and general manager of Knaack Enterprises, a 125-year-old family business.
“Having a future president of Rotary International in Fort Wayne is a rare opportunity for Summit attendees and local Rotarians,” said Floyd Lancia, Zone Summit convener and a new director to the Board of Directors of Rotary International. Locally, Lancia is a member of the Anthony Wayne Rotary Club.
The Zone Summit starts Thursday and runs through Sunday.
“The Zone Summit is an annual gathering of Rotarians who have committed to a higher level of service and provides leadership training for the 78 Rotary Districts within these zones,” Lancia said in a statement.
