An Edgerton, Ohio, woman died this morning and a man was seriously injured in a two-vehicle head-on collision on U.S. 6 near Edgerton, the Ohio State Highway Patrol said.
Troopers at the Defiance Post responded about 8:20 a.m. to a report of the collision on U.S. 6 near Williams County Road 6, just east of Edgerton, the highway patrol said in a statement.
It said John Wayne Kinney, 79, of West Liberty, Ohio, was driving west on the U.S. highway when his pickup truck went left of center, striking a car driven east by Shelley R. Armstrong, 60, of Edgerton.
After the collision, Kinney's truck traveled off the left side of the road and struck a utility junction box, police said. They said he was removed from the truck and taken to Bryan Hospital, then flown to a Toledo hospital.
Armstrong was removed from her car and died at the scene, police said.
U.S. 6 was limited to one lane for about 90 minutes. The crash remains under investigation.
