Villalta in net for Komets
JUSTIN A. COHN | The Journal Gazette
TOLEDO, Ohio -- Matthew Villalta, as expected, will start for the Komets at 5:15 p.m. against the Toledo Walleye at the Huntington Center.
I'm surprised by his numbers -- 2-0-1 with a 3.82 goals-against average and a .860 save percentage -- because it seems as if he's been playing well. I've found him a bit more reliable than Cole Kehler, the other Los Angeles Kings goalie who has played with Fort Wayne this season. But I think it also shows that the defense has hung Villalta out to dry at times.
For comparison, Kelher was 2-1-0 with a 3.37 GAA and a .901 SP. Dylan Ferguson, now with Chicago of the American Hockey League, was 1-0-0 with a 2.00 GAA and a .929 SP.
Max Strang is the backup today.
