Councilmen applaud Turnstone Paralympic qualifiers

Two Fort Wayne City Councilmen on Tuesday applauded the recent Paralympic qualifiers at Turnstone.
Councilmen Geoff Paddock, D-5th, and Russ Jehl, R-2nd, both attended the event Monday, Paddock said.
"This has become of course a center for international, worldwide teams coming in for training," Paddock said. "It was really exciting to witness a goalball game between South Korea and Sweden and it was really fascinating to watch that and these very talented athletes training."
Paddock said he and Jehl were given T-shirts and a badge to wear and were assigned to "keep the peace, which I think we did so pretty well without roughing anybody up."
Chuckling, Jehl proposed a possible fundraising event.
"I think perhaps maybe lining us up and letting people throw that goalball at us would probably raise a lot of money," Jehl said.
Laughing, Paddock replied that it would be "better than a dunk tank."
The 2019 ISBA Goalball and Judo International Qualifier at Turnstone ended Tuesday.
