The Women's Campaign Institute will open Friday for its second-annual set of conferences for women considering a run for public office.
The event is hosted by Advancing the Voices of Women (AVOW) and will run from 1 to 5 p.m. Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. Saturday and 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Sunday at the Keene Building (former law school) at Indiana Tech, 1600 E. Washington Blvd.
Participants include 15 local women who are seriously considering running for office. Topics to be covered will address crafting your story; fundraising; campaign essentials; resources from political parties and PACs; overcoming self-doubt; avoiding expensive rookie mistakes; bouncing back from loss; communications; and a "speed mentoring" session with six current office-holders and candidates.
