Arts Update

ART AWARDS: The following received the 2022 Arts United Awards: Chris Ford; Greg Mendez; Carolyn Meyer and Karissa Kalb; Sheila Moore and Jomare Bowers-Mizzell; Leah Reeder; Zynette Paige; Bryan Ballinger, Margaret Ann Keegan Award for Arts Education; Dorothy Kittaka, Mayor's Arts Award; Daniel Reuning, Lifetime Achievement Award; and Condra Ridley, Lifetime Achievement Award.

ART GRANT AWARDED: Arts United was awarded a $10,000 grant from the National Endowment for the Arts to support the Allen County Folklife Study, which will study the county's community cultures' traditional dance and related art forms. The study is planned to be conducted this year.

RECORDING WORKSHOP: Sweetwater Studios will have a recording workshop, featuring blues-rock guitarist Arielle, on March 4 and 5. The cost of the two-day recording and mixing experience is $595 a person. For more information, go to


• Fort Wayne Youtheatre will have auditions for ages 8 and older for “Making 'Little Women': Louisa May Alcott” from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. Tuesday and Wednesday at Arts United Center. For more information, go to

• Off Stage Productions will have auditions for “Mama Won't Fly” from 7 to 8 p.m. Jan. 24 and 25 at Vantage Career Center, 818 N. Franklin St., Van Wert, Ohio. Performance dates are March 5 through 27 and April 1 through 3. For more information, go to the Facebook page.
