City man accused of armed robbery
A Fort Wayne man was charged Wednesday with armed robbery after witnesses said they saw him punch, kick and drag a woman at a PNC Bank after he grabbed her purse.
On April 22, Michael Adriene Porter, 34, of the 1000 block of North Coliseum Boulevard, grabbed the woman's purse outside PNC Bank on South Anthony Boulevard around 9:25 a.m. while wielding a machete, according to court documents.
The 79-year-old victim had just walked out of the bank when she was accosted by Porter. She had numerous injuries to multiple parts of her body from the assault and being dragged screaming along the sidewalk as she clung to her purse, court records said.
Porter left in a tan Ford Escape, which was found abandoned behind a Kroger store. Police determined the SUV belonged to Porter and identified him as the assailant through his DNA, which matched DNA on the handle of his machete, court documents said.
A warrant has been issued for his arrest.
