I&M roof blaze extinguished before firefighters arrive
ASHLEY SLOBODA | The Journal Gazette
Firefighters rushed to Indiana Michigan Power's Landin Road office this morning after a passing police officer reported a fire on the utility's roof, but emergency officials didn't have much to do once they arrived.
The blaze – which was contained to the roof – was extinguished by a roofing company that is doing repairs to the facility, said Josh Hale, New Haven-Adams Township Fire Department fire chief. Firefighters ensured the blaze was completely out before leaving.
Something the roofing crew was doing caused the fire, Hale said, characterizing it as small.
There was no damage estimate because the roofing company is continuing its repair project, Hale said.
