Fort Wayne Community Schools is giving 4-year-olds a new opportunity next year -- attend full-day pre-kindergarten at Adams and Study elementary schools, district officials announced today.
Up to 20 tots will be accepted into the program at each school.
Stacy Rensberry-Garner has taught pre-K at Study for three years and expects expanding the half-day program into a full-day program will better prepare the youngsters for kindergarten.
She looks forward to incorporating more science, social studies, music and art into the daily lessons, she said, noting her plans don't always fit into the half-day classes, which last about two and a half hours.
