Wayne outlasts Dwenger in OT
The Wayne boys basketball team overcame an early deficit to defeat Bishop Dwenger 71-67 in overtime on Friday.
The Saints (5-6, 1-3 SAC) led 18-8 after the first quarter and 27-22 at halftime, but the Generals (6-4, 3-1) evened the score at 55 by the end of regulation.
Craig Young led Wayne with 24 points, Dillon Redding added 17 and Darian Causey had 12.
Hayden Smithey scored 23, Matt Kochanski added 15 and Brenden Lytle 12 for Bishop Dwenger.
CARROLL 62, BISHOP LUERS 39:At Carroll, Riley Perlich scored 16 points and Arius Jones added 13 to lead the Chargers.
Mark Strum led the Knights with 13 points and Naylon Thompson added 10.
SOUTH SIDE 75, CONCORDIA 43: At Concordia, the Archers' Trejean Didier hit his 1,000th career point in a 13-point performance. J.T. Langston led South with 17 points, and Asher Blum added 10.
Jeren Kindig led the Cadets with eight points.
WARSAW 53, GOSHEN 35: At Warsaw, Nolan Groninger scored 16 and Zach Riley added 15 to lead the Tigers.
Bryant Robinson led the RedHawks with 10 points.
SOUTH SIDE 50, CONCORDIA 40: At Concordia, the Archers (16-3, 6-1 SAC) made 21 of 28 attempts from the line, including 8 of 10 in the second quarter to lead 31-22 at halftime. They also made 9 of 10 in the fourth quarter. Taniece Chapman led the Archers with 14.
Carissa Garcia scored 25 points to lead the Cadets (11-7, 3-4), including 10 of 10 from the free-throw line.
HOMESTEAD 60, SNIDER 24: At Homestead, Sylare Starks led the Spartans (16-2, 7-0 SAC) with 22 points, eclipsing the 1,000-point mark for her high school career, and Kara Gealy added 13.
Da'Leshia Davis led the Panthers (8-10, 3-4) with 10 points.
ANGOLA 52, EASTSIDE 43: At Westview, Ali Cranston scored 17 points and added eight rebounds and six steals, and Sarah Duvendak added 14 points as the Hornets (17-3) advanced to the NECC tournament championship.
Lindsey Beard scored 14 points for the Blazers (13-5).
