Snider shocks Homestead on half-court, game-winning basket

JOURNAL GAZETTE

Snider senior Jon Barnes threw up a last second heave from behind half-court to give Snider a 53-52 win at Homestead on Friday night.

Snider junior Michael Eley hit a jumper with just under 10 seconds left to put the Panthers up by two, but Homestead's Luke Goode quickly took the ball down the court and took aim for a go-ahead 3-pointer. Goode was fouled by Eley, then hit three free throws to go up 52-50.

Snider's Isaac Farnsworth in-bounded the ball to Barnes, who dribbled once before tossing the Hail Mary shot into the air. The ball sailed straight through the net as Barnes ran to his team bench and then was chased across the court by his teammates.

It was the second nail-biting meeting between these two teams this season, as the Panthers (10-3) eliminated Homestead (8-4) from the SAC Tournament with a 65-63 win.
