Bishop Luers' Cinderella run in the Class 2A state tournament continued Friday night with a 36-17 regional victory at Tipton. The Knights captured their second regional championship in three years despite going 3-6 in the regular season. They have won four in a row in the playoffs.
Luers quarterback Carson Clark was 18 for 25 for 293 yards and four touchdowns. Two of those scoring receptions went to Krashaun Menson, from 47 and 37 yards out. Menson caught five passes for 130 yards.
Ramon Anderson also scored a touchdown for the Knights (7-6) and ran 19 times for 89 yards.
Luers led 23-3 at halftime.
They advance to next week's semistate and will face Pioneer for a trip to the Knights' first state title game since 2012.
Following Jared Kistler's 68-yard touchdown catch for No. 8 Homestead, No. 2 Westfield scored 35 straight points to defeat the Spartans42-9 at Westfield.
The Spartans are still looking for their first regional championship since 1998.
No. 2 Bishop Dwenger (10-2) dropped a 30-21 decision at No. 11 Zionsville.
AJ Vinatieri, son of former Colts kicker Adam Vinatieri, kicked a field goal with two seconds left to break a 21-all deadlock.
No. 13 Concordia (7-6) hung with No. 1 Bishop Chatard, but dropped a 28-18 decision in Indianapolis. The Cadets trailed 14-10 at halftime.
The 28 points they surrendered were the second-most they had given up all year.
