Kosciusko marketing executive named Visit Fort Wayne president

Visit Fort Wayne will have a new president and executive director as of Valentine's Day.

Jill Boggs, who has worked as the chief executive officer for the Kosciusko County Convention and Visitors Bureau for six years, will start Feb. 14. She is replacing Dan O'Connell, who retired Dec. 31 after heading the nonprofit for 33 years.

Boggs has served as assistant vice president of university marketing and communications at Trine University and president and chief executive officer of the Angola Area Chamber of Commerce.

She has a bachelor's degree in social work from Ball State University and a master's degree in management from Indiana Wesleyan University.

"Jill’s strong knowledge of the destination marketing industry and its emerging trends and her ability to connect that knowledge to a vision for growth set her apart from other candidates we met in our national search," said Kelly Updike, chairwoman of Visit Fort Wayne's board of directors.

Boggs brings experience in economic development, marketing and staff development to Visit Fort Wayne, said Updike, who also is president and chief executive officer of Fort Wayne's Embassy Theatre.

"We are excited about Visit Fort Wayne’s growth potential," Updike said.

Visit Fort Wayne is the city's and Allen County's convention and visitors organization.

Boggs in a statement commended the organization for promoting the area as "a vibrant destination."

She said she wanted "to continue building upon a foundation of excellence" and to work with the organization's team, calling her new job "quite frankly, a dream becoming reality."

Boggs resigned from her position in Kosciusko County on Tuesday, but she will continue to serve until Feb. 10.
