Central Noble's Essegian named IBCA Player of the Week

Central Noble senior was named the boys IBCA Player of the Week for District 1 on Tuesday after leading his team to its third straight NECC tournament title.

Essegian passed the 2,000-point mark and became Noble County's all-time leading scorer in the team's first-round victory on Tuesday, scoring 28 points with eight rebounds, four assists and three steals in the 67-41 win over Angola. He scored 34 points and had 11 rebounds to lead the Cougars past West Noble, 59-52, in the second round on Wednesday, and he hit six 3-pointers and finished with 24 points in the semifinal to beat Fremont 61-42.

In the final, a 62-44 win over Eastside, Essegian scored 39 points and had nine rebounds.
