ARTS UPDATE

ORCHESTRAL ARRANGEMENT CHOSEN: An orchestral arrangement by Manchester University professor Debra Lynn will premiere at the Caribbean Lyric Festival on May 9. Lynn is the director of choral organizations and vocal studies, as well as conduct the Manchester Symphony Orchestra. Soprano Natalia Dopwell, one of eight Caribbean singers, will perform Lynn's arrangement of “White Egrets IV” from “Songs of the Islands,” a 12-song collection by Dominique Le Gendre. The event at the National Theater in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, will be broadcast live on Dominican television and YouTube. CONSERVATORY LAUNCHED: The Wagon Wheel Center for the Arts has launched the Wagon Wheel Conservatory, an education branch that will provide theater classes and workshops to children and adults. For more information about the conservatory, go to www.wagonwheelcenter.org.
