A woman who was rushed to a hospital after a Tuesday afternoon stabbing in northeast Fort Wayne died during treatment, according to Fort Wayne Police Department spokeswoman Sofia Rosales-Scatena.
A woman was arrested on a murder charge shortly after the violence, which happened about 12:50 p.m. at Shoaff Park Villas in the 4700 block of Jason Drive.
“We do have who we feel is the person of interest in this incident in custody, talking to her now,” Rosales-Scatena told reporters gathered at the scene north of St. Joe Center and Reed roads.
Descriptions of a potential suspect and vehicle helped police find the woman, Rosales-Scatena said. Alisha Lampkin, 27, was taken into custody without incident and later arrested, Rosales-Scatena said.
Lampkin is expected to appear in court today.
Rosales-Scatena encouraged the public to call 260-427-1201 or 260-436-7867 with any information about this or other crimes.
The Allen County coroner will release the victim's identity after her family is notified. If the coroner rules the death a homicide, it would be the sixth homicide this year and the second within a week.
