An Edgerton, Ohio, woman died Thursday and a man was seriously injured in a two-vehicle head-on collision on U.S. 6 near Edgerton, the Ohio State Highway Patrol said.
Troopers at the Defiance Post responded about 8:20 a.m. to U.S. 6 near Williams County Road 6, just east of Edgerton, the highway patrol said.
Police said John Wayne Kinney, 79, of West Liberty, Ohio, was driving west on the U.S. highway when his pickup truck went left of center, striking a car driven east by Shelley R. Armstrong, 60, of Edgerton.
After the collision, Kinney's truck traveled off the left side of the road and struck a utility junction box, police said. Police said he was removed from the truck and taken to Bryan Hospital, then flown to a Toledo hospital.
Armstrong was removed from her car and died at the scene, according to the highway patrol.
U.S. 6 was limited to one lane for about 90 minutes.
